Nursery Playground

The playscape was designed to encourage babies and toddlers to gain confidence as they reach new milestones – such as learning to walk, crawl or balance by themselves. We removed a small and rotting play structure, which was set within a large area of bonded rubber surfacing (EPDM). We combined a tunnel, slide and a custom-built swing bridge connecting twin play mounds. Natural log steps provide a more challenging route up the hill and set river boulders offer places for clambering or sitting. The tunnel ends were each fitted with easy-use removable circular doors, keeping out foxes and cats after hours. The playground was independently inspected with a PII report to certify how we met all relevant BSEN guidelines. Other improvements were made to the existing garden area, including a small table with log seats. We also included privacy & security screening, with coloured Birch ply panels being fixed to cover an existing fence and gate.
